John Talkington

John Talkington is an architect at the Smithsonian Institution and also creates abstract and realistic art using a variety of media on a "commission" basis. He was raised on a ranch in the Flint Hill Tall Grass Prairie area of Kansas, known for its rolling hills and grand vistas and now lives with his partner and two rhodesian ridgeback dogs in Washington, DC. The underlying compositional theme of his work is redolent of and relies on the common shapes and forms in natural landscape and in architecture. Architectural principles of structure and composition are used in complimentary patterns and layers to display and enhance the emotional and spiritual impressions we find in landscapes and in nature.
