Photographer Mark Parascandola seeks to draw out the elusive harmony in uninhabitable landscapes and abandoned architecture. His portfolio includes work from Spain, South America, the southwestern U.S., and Washington DC. He lives and works in the U Street neighborhood of Washington DC. Mark recently showed Spanish Ghosts: Spain's Abandoned Architecture at Gallery B at Biagio Fine Chocolate on 18th street. This series of photographs included images of the Carabanchel prison in Madrid, leftover western film sets from the 1970s, and vacant cortijos along the coast of Almeria. For Open Studios Mark will be highlighting new work on abandoned architecture from Spain, Peru and Miami.
