Dwight’s experiences in the areas of art, architecture, and building have had enormous impact on the way he sees the world and expresses ideas in his artwork. He has a fascination with notions of structure, substrate, architectural skin, and surface for their conceptual, metaphorical and literal implications. He uses the traditional materials and processes of a painter, a ceramicist, and a builder when creating work. He believes his work to be readable on many levels and enjoys the fact that, as he works, his conceptual thread remains relatively steady while manifesting itself in a variety of media and forms.
Dwight is currently an MFA candidate at MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) and has an MEd from Rutgers University and a BSArch from the University of Virginia. He teaches Art at a Fairfax County Public Schools high school.
